Reflexology for pregnancy and birth

Your body will go through the most amazing changes you can imagine while nurturing and growing your new addition to the family! Regular reflexology sessions will support you throughout your pregnancy, encouraging your mind and body to remain in balance, easing minor ailments, aches and pains, and preparing you for a wonderful birth experience.

These are a few examples in which reflexology has demonstrated to be beneficial in pregnancy:

  • Anxiety

  • Backache

  • Constipation or any change in bowel movement  pattern

  • Indigestion

  • Hyper salivation

  • Hemorrhoids

  • Insomnia

  • Fatigue

  • Sinus congestion

  • Muscular tension

  • Nausea/vomiting

  • Edema (not associated with pre-eclampsia)

  • Urinary tract infections

  • Pubic symphysis pain

  • Hip/pelvic pain

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

Reflexology is complementary to expert medical care. Always inform your health care provider that you are receiving reflexology during pregnancy. More and more health care providers are aware of the benefits of reflexology and other complementary therapies, however, it is necessary that you get the proper assessment on the appearance of any condition that might be serious.

For maximum benefit book regular sessions throughout your pregnancy.  Frequency depends on your personal needs which will be discussed at your first session.

Reflexology can help induce labor, especially if you have being receiving reflexology regularly. If you are past your due date I would love to try to help you ease into labor, with your obstetrician’s blessing.

Watch an amazing clip of the effects of a reflexology session on a woman in her 34th week of pregnancy with severe edema of the ankles carried out by Mauricio (Moshe) Kruchik, who I trained with in early 2009.

Baby world

Yes! There is a baby reflex in the feet. It grows with your baby and can be visible from 8 weeks, but it is more likely to be seen around 12 weeks when the uterus starts to grow out of the pelvic cavity or when you begin to "show". Amazing!

I really do think receiving reflexology weekly during the final weeks of my pregnancy helped - a lot!  Honestly, I felt a change within minutes of leaving after receiving my third session at 40 weeks...read more
